What an INSANE difference a month makes in development.
Every so often I feel the need to apologize to Juliet. Because, you see, Mommy’s body couldn’t handle growing her anymore and she had to join us in this big bad world before she was ready. And now she has to do all of that important growing on the outside and sometimes it’s really tough to do All The Things.
This month Juliet has excelled at:
- gaining 510 grams. (AKA 1 pound, 2 ounces)
- growing 2 inches
- breathing on her own
- graduating from isolette to crib
- wearing the most adorable clothes
- sleeping through Mommy’s visits and being wide awake and adorably in love during Daddy’s visits.
Things Juliet is still working on:
- not dropping her heart rate on a consistent basis. This sounds a hell of a lot scarier than it is.
- eating on her own. Babies don’t get the ability for this reflex (suck, swallow, breathe at the same time) until 34 weeks gestation. We’re working on this with a device known as the “Ntrainer” and she’s a champ! I’m convinced she’ll be wolfing down bottles in no time.
- pooping regularly. I cannot tell you how many x-rays she’s had b/c her belly is distended. I can tell you how many of those x-rays show she’s just full of poop. ALL OF THEM
We’re still hopeful that Juliet will excel and be able to come home before her intended due date of November 3. Please keep your fingers crossed!
*kisses*
